Principles Of Security: Corrections Training
Principles Of Security
Each correctional facility has its own unique security requirements, but the principles of security are the same everywhere. This program outlines more than twenty principles of security that all departments in a correctional facility should maintain. It stresses that correctional employees are the ones who keep inmates in jails and prisons--not bars, fences, or walls. The program emphasizies that every place an inmate is allowed to go is a potential hiding place for contraband or weapons. Therefore, each employee is responsible for the security of the area where they work. Correctional workers are encouraged to know their area and how it looks, smells and sounds. It also points out that "thinking like an inmate" helps employees discover where weapons may be hidden and enables employees to predict likely escape attempts and routes.
